Business Development Representative
ExPrep – Remote/Hybrid
Position Overview
The Business Development Representative at ExPrep plays a crucial role in generating new business opportunities by researching, prospecting, and qualifying potential customers. Working under the guidance of Account Executives, key responsibilities include identifying leads, using channels such as email and LinkedIn to engage them, and determining if they are a good fit for the product or service and scheduling meetings. The main goal is to fill the sales pipeline with qualified leads to drive revenue.
Core responsibilities
Prospecting and Lead Generation:
- Conduct market research on trends, competitors, and potential customers.
- Identify potential schools, educators, and courses to build lists of leads.
- Use outbound methods such as email and LinkedIn to reach prospects.
- Schedule initial discovery calls or meetings between qualified leads and Account Executives.
Sales pipeline management:
- Maintain and update a client database in HubSpot to ensure course information is accurate every semester.
- Facilitate sales sequences and email campaigns to generate engagement and conversations.
- Track leads and monitor progress through the sales pipeline.
Industry & Product Knowledge:
- Develop a deep understanding of the ExPrep platform to communicate features and benefits effectively.
- Understand common trends in business education and how Excel is leveraged across multiple subjects and disciplines.
Other key duties:
- Monitor market changes and competitive activity.
- Stay up-to-date on new company products and services.
- Achieve and report on monthly and quarterly sales and performance goals.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing the customer experience.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in business development roles is preferred but not required
- Business or Education degree is desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted professional relationships
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are preferred but not required
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Experience with HubSpot (or other CRM) is a plus
- Understanding of higher education markets and environments
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to team goals
Compensation & Benefits
- $80-90k OTE (base + commission)
